Deleting a File from the Queue

Remove a file you uploaded by mistake, before we review it.

Video walkthrough (1:36) with on-screen captions. Choose Voice-over to hear it narrated, and use a step’s Watch button to jump to that part.

When to Delete a File

Deleting a file takes it out of our review queue, so it won't be reviewed. It's the quickest way to clean up a mistake before our team starts on it, for example:

  • The same file was uploaded twice
  • The wrong file was uploaded, or it went to the wrong property
  • You're about to upload a corrected copy of a file that was rejected

Who can delete files? Site and corporate users on the Client Dashboard can delete files for properties they're allowed to upload to. Users with Read Only access to a property won't see the option.

Deleting can't be undone. A deleted file disappears from your dashboard and can't be brought back there. If you delete a file by mistake, upload it again.

Which Files Can Be Deleted

Only files that are still in the queue. The file's status in the Uploaded Files table tells you:

Pending Can be deleted. The file is waiting in our review queue.
Rejected Can be deleted. Clear it out once you've uploaded a corrected copy.
Completed Can't be deleted. The review is finished and stays on record.

Deleting a File

1

Find the File on the Dashboard

Sign in to the Client Dashboard and scroll to the Uploaded Files card. Use search or the filters to find the file (the Checking on Files tutorial covers them). Check the file name, property, and upload date so you're sure it's the right one, especially when two files have similar names.

2

Click More, Then Delete...

Click More on the file's row. The file's options open right below the row. Click the red Delete... button, next to Add Note and Details (corporate users also see Download there).

3

Check the Confirmation

The Confirm File Deletion window opens and names the file you're about to delete (a long name may be shortened). It also reminds you that this action cannot be undone. If it's the wrong file, click Cancel or the X, and nothing is deleted.

4

Add a Reason (Optional)

In Reason for Deletion (Optional), add a few words about why you're removing the file. It isn't required, but it's saved with the deletion and helps if anyone asks about the file later.

Example: "Duplicate upload. The same statement was sent twice."
Example: "Uploaded to the wrong property. Resending to Sunstone Village."
5

Click Delete File

Click the red Delete File button. Your browser shows the message File successfully removed from queue; click OK. The file disappears from the Uploaded Files table and won't be reviewed.

6

Upload the Right File (If Needed)

If you deleted a file because it was wrong, send the correct one from Upload Files, the same way as before. The Signing In & Uploading Files tutorial walks through it.

Replacing a file? Add a note to the new upload saying which file it replaces. See Adding Notes to Files.

Troubleshooting

I don't see a Delete option

Click More on the file's row first: Delete... is one of the options that open below it. It won't appear for Completed files, or if you have Read Only access to the file's property. If Read Only applies to you, ask a Manager for the property to change your permission level.

I deleted the wrong file

A deleted file can't be restored from the dashboard. Upload it again from Upload Files and it goes back into the queue. If you no longer have a copy, open a support ticket with the file name and upload date.

I need to remove a Completed file

Completed files can't be deleted, because the review is finished and stays on record. If something about a completed review needs a second look, open a support ticket and mention the file name.

I got an error when I clicked Delete File

The file may have been completed since you opened the page, or your access to the property may have changed. Reload the dashboard and try again. If the error keeps happening, open a support ticket and include the message you saw.
